There are times in one’s life when the use of rental cars cannot
be avoided. When someone plows into you at an intersection, when
you are taking a 2-day trip and your compact car just does not
have enough room to stretch out, these are times when you are
happy that there are rental cars at your disposal. Before you
rent that car, though, you should know some things about the
process.

1- The first step involved in obtaining a rental car is to do
research on the companies in your local area. There are a number
of nation wide companies and more than likely local companies to
choose from when conducting your research. Try to narrow them
down to three or four companies that are closest to either your
pick up location or your destination.

2- You will want to ask about procedures that may be required by
the rental company. Many companies require that the car be
fueled up before its return, if this is not done, they will
charge you extra for it. It may also be in your best interest to
ask what the fee would be if the car is needed for longer than
expected as well as what the rate is for late drop off.

3- If you have personal auto insurance, call your agent to see
if you are insured with a rental car as well. This will allow
you to save money by turning down the insurance offered by the
rental company at the time of vehicle pick up.

4- Finally, you have chosen the company and the car, its time to
pick it up. Make sure that you have the paper work that you will
need. Most companies will require you to show your drivers
license, be sure to have it. Also, your proof of auto insurance,
if you will be turning their insurance down. A major credit card
is necessary; if you are not using cash to rent your car, do not
count on them taking a check.

5- Be sure to read the contract and ask questions about anything
that you do not understand. It’s better to take sometime at the
counter or on the phone to pin down the details, than to think
you got it and have to deal with the company in the event of an
accident. Ask questions!

br
When you get in a vehicle to drive, it is usually for one of two reasons: to go somewhere or drive around leisurely. In either case, it is assumed you want to reach your destination without being involved in an accident. The following are ten tips for safer driving will increase your chances of reaching your destination without your involvement in an accident. For the most part these tips are common sense.
1. If the weather outside is frightful, stay at home, stay at home and finally stay at home! Adverse weather conditions increase your odds of being involved in an accident. Is your trip necessary? Can it wait until the conditions get better?
2. If you do have to drive in the bad weather conditions, pay attention to the surface on which are driving? Are the roads snowy or icy? Are they wet? Is there oil on the road? If so, are the water and oil creating slick roads? Are you driving on a muddy road?
3. When the driving conditions are not favorable, avoid going to fast. Whether sight is limited due to fog or the roads have become slick, allow yourself enough time to stop. Increasing your stopping distance will give you time to react better to a bad situation.
4. Speaking of stopping, whether you are in good or bad weather conditions, always leave one car length to the car in front of you. That way, if your vehicle is hit from behind, you will have enough time to steer away from the vehicle in front of you (assuming you are hit hard enough to reach the next vehicle).
5. Concentrate on driving. Avoid distractions like eating or drinking, changing radio stations, disruptive passengers, and talking on cell phones. Try eating or drinking before you leave or stop and eat somewhere. Choose your radio station before you start driving.
Before you go anywhere, let your passengers know your rules. You are driving, so you are in charge. Also, chances are your strict rules will be better than walking. So, I am pretty sure you will get your way. And cell phones have a place. They should be used for emergencies only. If you need to carry on a conversation, pull off to the side of the road until you are finished. And resume driving when you finish your conversation.
6. Another way to concentrate on driving is to keep your eyes moving at all times. First, of all, this will keep you from going into a dazed, hypnotic state. Also, you will be able to keep track of your speed and the traffic that is around you.
7. Speaking of keeping track of the traffic around you, check your blind spots before changing lanes. Sometimes vehicles sneak into your blind spots. A momentary peek is all that is necessary to keep you from an accident.
8. While we discuss changing or merging into other lanes of traffic: merge with the speed of traffic. Merging not only affects you and the vehicle you are getting in front of, but this action also has ramifications on the vehicles behind the other vehicle. Here is an example: when you are going up a ramp to merge onto the interstate, do not wait until the end of the ramp to floor your gas pedal to go 55, 65, or 70 miles per hour. Chances are your vehicle cannot go from 35 to 55 mph at the snap of your fingers.
Without speeding up on the ramp you are endangering the vehicles on the interstate. Also, you have put the vehicles behind your vehicle on the ramp in a very precarious position – they now must merge like you decided to merge. You need to start to accelerate by pushing on your gas pedal at the beginning of the ramp. That way you will be going the speed of traffic at the end of the ramp. At that point, it will be easier to speed up or slow down to get into traffic.
By gradually speeding on the ramp to the get the proper speed by the end of the ramp you now do not compromise the safety of the others who need to use the ramp. And, if you are behind another vehicle who is going to use an on-ramp, give the other vehicle a chance to gain some speed before you get on the on-ramp. It will also be easier to merge if you are not right up against the back bumper of the car in front of you on the ramp.
9. Now if you have quite a distance to go, plan time for delays. If there are no delays, you will be at your destination early.
10. When it comes to children, people on bicycles, and aggressive drivers, expect the unexpected. Be a defensive driver in the sense that you need to strategize a defense to protect yourself and to protect them against the dangers they present.
Again, whether you are driving to a destination or you are driving for pure leisure, there are things you can do to avoid accidents. I hope the previous ten tips helped you think on what you can do be a safer driver.
br
One of the most cost effective reasons to purchase daily car insurance is when one leases or rents a vehicle. The insurance that covers a rented or leased vehicle that is purchased when the rental takes place is minimal and does not protect the driver of the vehicle. By purchasing daily car insurance for the term of the lease through an independent insurance company the person renting the vehicle is covered by the same protection that is offered by a long-term established policy. This can be very important when an accident takes place and the driver of the vehicle or his passengers are injured. The leasing company insurance generally covers only the vehicle and does not cover the driver or passengers which leaves the driver of the vehicle liable for injury and damages to property or people. Daily car insurance can be obtained for one day, up to twenty-eight days and can provide all of the protection that an individual driving in an area they are unfamiliar with will need. Most daily car insurance policies include provisions for roadside assistance so if the driver of a vehicle breaks down in an area that they are not familiar with they have a number to call for assistance and can be towed to the nearest repair station without having to search for a towing company in an area they are unfamiliar with. In addition, insurance companies will usually provide the driver with maps and directions to hotels or accommodations in the town they are going to be staying at. Just as with long term insurance providers, daily car insurance providers offer 24 hour assistance and customer service so if a person is in an accident they can call for assistance easily and feel secure that their needs will be met quickly. Daily car insurance is also a very wise investment when a car is borrowed from a friend. With daily car insurance, if there is an accident while you are driving the car it is protected yet your long-term insurance premiums will not be affected and you will not receive a mark against your record on your long term insurance policy. This insurance can be written to cover several drivers of a vehicle so if a trip is planned where several people will be driving a vehicle, they can all be included on the daily car insurance policy and all will be covered and protected should anything happen during the trip. If one member of the party does not have proper long-term insurance coverage that will cover the day trip by being placed on the daily car insurance policy they are not in jeopardy and are not placing the primary drivers insurance in jeopardy. When planning a short trip or renting a car it is important that one obtain a daily car insurance policy to provide the protection that you will need for the time you are using the vehicle. Checking online you can easily compare the rate for this type of insurance and be one the road quickly.br
br
There are a lot of perks associated with car shopping online with eBay Motors, including the buyer being able to set the price. In addition, automobile insurance is more affordable on used cars and, with an auction, the buyer pays in full and there is no hassle of a monthly payment. If you do plan to shop for your next car on eBay Motors, take a moment to consider the following tips to help get you started on the road to car shopping success.
First and foremost, check with your car insurance company before deciding to purchase a specific car on eBay Motors or anywhere else. If the cost of car insurance is a major deciding factor, then you will want to be clear about the costs before you commit to purchasing. In addition, it may be helpful to know that SUVs carry a higher insurance cost than that of a car. With that being said, the cost of insurance will be less on a used car than if that same model were purchased new.
Request a CarFax report from the seller and, if they do not have one, request the VIN number so that you may obtain a copy directly. This report is something that every potential car owner needs to have. Why? Because it contains the number of previous owners that a particular car has had, information regarding whether or not the car has ever been involved in a flood or other accident and whether or not the title is clear. There is also more information detailing a cars history included, which is why no automobile should ever be purchased without a CarFax report.
Before deciding that your car of choice is the deal of a lifetime, take a moment to research its value according to Kelly Blue Book. This company is one of the most respected in the industry and instantly provides new or used car values directly from their website. After entering specific information relating to a car, individuals will receive an instant value assessment according to the information provided. This tool will help all potential car owners to find out whether or not a deal is too good to be true or just not too good at all.
Take a moment to consider the cars fuel mileage. With gasoline prices what they are, it is important to think about how many miles you will get from one gallon of gasoline. The more mileage you have per gallon, the less you will end up spending in gasoline. This is definitely something to think about!
When shopping for cars on eBay Motors, take special notice of the mileage. This is a good indication of how much life the car has left in it or whether you are buying a car that has seen its best days. A great number of cars on eBay Motors have very low mileage, but others are well over 100,000.
As a final thought to shopping for cars on eBay Motors, take a moment to make sure that the car you ultimately select is one that will best fit your lifestyle. If you have a large family, for instance, a compact car probably isnt the best choice. You will need additional space to make sure that everyone is comfortable and to make it ideal for long road trips. At the same time, a single person may be more than happy in a smaller car because of the simple fact that they use much less gasoline than an SUV or similar automobile. When shopping for cars, either new or used, its all about lifestyle and which one best fits yours.
br
Christmas has only just finished and its still months until
Easter, but I bet youve already started to plan your summer
holiday. So where are you thinking of going? Majorca? Corfu?
Ayia Napa?

You know what its going to be like. Youll have a flight at
some ungodly hour of the morning from some airport thats
nowhere near where you live. Therell be screaming kids and
vomiting babies everywhere, your flight will be delayed and then
when you finally get to wherever youre going, your luggage will
be waiting for you thousands of miles away in some hellhole on
the other side of the world. And then youll discover that the
Paradise View hotel youve booked into doesnt view paradise at
all, but rather a stinking building site with equally stinking
fat workmen leering at you.

Why put yourself through it all?

Why not take the stress-free option this summer and have a
beautifully relaxing holiday to remember? No delayed flights, no
tantruming toddlers and definitely no sweaty foreign workmen.
Instead, put your suitcases in the boot, give your motor
insurance company a tinkle, squeeze your girlfriends into the
car (or if really necessary, your bloke), drive right past that
airport and keep driving.

Because youre not flying anywhere. Nope. Instead, youre taking
the relaxing route to holiday paradise- youre driving there.

Nowadays theres no need to spend hundreds of pounds flying away
to some luxurious destination. You can drive there yourself and
save a bundle in the process. Majorca, Corfu and Ayia Napa might
be out of the question, but there so many fantastic places you
can get to.

Just call your womens car insurance provider before you go to
make sure theyve covered you for driving abroad, then off you
go. Unless you really hate boats and want to go across to France
via the Channel Tunnel, ferries from Britain can take you to a
multitude of fantastic foreign holiday destinations.

Sailing from the South Coast you can go to a whole host of ports
in northern France in a matter of hours, with the beautiful
nearby beaches of Normandy and Brittany offering everything
sun-lovers could desire. If its not the beaches that youre
after, drive down into the Loire Valley or the Dordogne for a
leafy, luscious break among the vineyards and gently swirling
rivers, or head over to Paris, the romantic capital of the
world, for something a little more hedonistic.

If youre dead set on a holiday in Spain, then a slightly longer
trip from Portsmouth or Plymouth can get you to Santander and
Bilbao. On Spains northern coast, theyve also got a horde of
beautiful beaches nearby, and Frances southern sands arent too
far away either. A word of warning though, Spanish drivers are
notoriously bad and the chances of getting involved in a smash
are fairly high, so unless you want that womens car insurance
premium to rocket up, be sure to take lots of care.

Scandinavian drivers are nowhere near as bad as their Spanish
cousins, and a ferry from England or Scotlands east coast can
take you to the mind-numbing beauty of the fjords and mountains
in the lands of our Viking forefathers.

The landscape is, in a word, stunning, and the people are among
the most friendly and welcoming on Earth. For those looking for
a chilled-out week away, Norway, Sweden and Denmark are the
perfect locations to relax and inhale a bit of culture and
history. If thats not your sort of thing then head over to
Stockholm, Copenhagen or Oslo for a party to remember. If
theres one thing the Scandinavians know how to do, its have a
good time. Just remember to pack your paracetamol.

If you think you can take more, get back on the ferry in
Stockholm and take an overnight trip up to Finland. The trip is
world-famous as a non-stop party, and if you like your Absolut,
Carlsberg and Kopparbergs, its definitely the thing for you.

Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Germany and virtually any other
country on mainland Europe is accessible via a ferry or the
Channel Tunnel, and youll be surprised at how much more fun,
and cheaper, it can be than the packed beach resorts of the
Costa Blanca. Driving on the Continent doesnt take long to get
used to, and as long as you make sure youve got proper motor
insurance cover from a specialist car insurance for women
provider, youve got nothing to worry about.

So pack the suncream, grab some bikinis, cram in the girls and
head off for a holiday to remember. Youll love it.br
br
br
br
The only possible way to be able to find the best possible deal on recreational vehicle insurance is by thoroughly considering and evaluating all of the seemingly best options, so that you can then narrow down that search to a select few, and from there the decision will obviously be much easier. It is incredibly surprising sometimes how completely different recreational vehicle insurance rates can be when comparing one company to another, and this is why it is so important to carefully consider all as best as you can.

Experience is very important when it comes to buying recreational vehicle insurance, and after comparing all coverages and premiums, the best idea is to ask the insurance company, broker or agent the following questions: Does your insurance company specialize in RV insurance? Does your company know and understand my needs as an RVer? How long has the company been providing RV insurance? How can you look after my claim? Do you provide 24-hour claims service anywhere in North America? What happens to my premiums if I have a claim?

Another idea to save money on your recreational vehicle insurance is to make fewer claims on your insurance, in order to keep your premiums down. There are several important travel tips you can use in order to save yourself from making more claims on your insurance than you need to, and the best tip is to bring along an emergency tool box on your RV adventures. This tool box should contain at least the basics, which are: adjustable wrench, screwdrivers, pliers, jumper cables, flashlight with extra batteries, road flares, and duct tape. Also, before any trip with your RV you should be sure to get a complete travel check-up for the vehicle, including inspection of all the belts and hoses, headlights, tires, and turning signals. Other good tips to remember are to make sure that your cooking vent hood is clean to help avoid fires, and to make sure that you leave a detailed plan of your trip along with phone numbers where you can be reached with a family member or friend.

There are several places in particular that offer recreational vehicle insurance, and making yourself knowledgeable about the rates, features, and reliability that is offered is the best way to make sure that you are not only getting the best possible deal, but that you are making the best decision for you and your own personal needs./pbr

Advanced driving for young drivers There are many excellent
reasons to put your learning hat back on and seek out a local
instructor for advanced driving lessons. After passing our tests
many of us still feel as though there is something missing and
actually plucking up the courage to get behind the wheel and
pull out onto a major road can be a terrifying ordeal. It can
also be quite frightening to venture out in pouring rain or
blustering winds for new, young drivers.

It is a great idea to work yourself into driving gradually.
Perhaps you could get a friend or family member that has a few
years of driving under their belt to sit with you for the first
couple of road excursions. Make sure that you don’t plan any
long, gruelling cross country trips straight away. Also, stick
to minor roads and just get used to being among other traffic
and master being in full control of your vehicle.

Reasons for wanting to be an advanced driver Here are some other
great reasons to enrol on an advanced driving course:

Motor enthusiasts may want to master control over their vehicle
in order to gain a more pleasurable driving experience Parents
may want to improve their confidence behind the wheel to enhance
the safety of their families A young or first time driver may
want gain more driving experience and cut down car insurance
rates Advanced driving organisations Organisations such as The
Institute of Advanced Motorists and The Royal Society for the
Prevention of Accidents offer advanced driving training. Many
car insurance companies such as the RAC and the AA teach their
own advanced driving lessons. However, Pass Plus is the one
advanced training initiative devised by the DVLA with the help
of the motor insurance industry and UK driving instructors.

Advantages of being an advanced young driver Advanced driving
lessons are very beneficial to all drivers, but may be
especially useful for young drivers.

Experience – find out how to deal with many tricky situations
that you may encounter while on the road. These may include
learning how to drive in extreme weather conditions and
preparation for how to deal with road accidents. Confidence -
learn how to become a more self-assured driver. Advanced driving
can also help your friends and family feel more confident about
you being out on the road alone. Your passengers will also feel
more relaxed with you at the wheel. Skills – this is your chance
to add years to your driving experience in a matter of weeks
while being taught by the experts. Developing advanced car
control skills and becoming more intimate with the ins and out
of your car can be very rewarding. New, young drivers will find
this particularly helpful. Safety – new drivers are often
unaware of just how many dangers there are out on the road and
drivers are more likely to have an accident during the first two
years that they begin to drive due to lack of experience. This
is why young driver car insurance can be so costly. By being
more conscious of the road accident hazards new drivers may be
able to bring these deplorable accident rates down and make the
British roads safer. Money saving – although you will have to
pay the initial costs of your advanced driving course you could
end up saving more on your young driver car insurance than you
spend on tuition. By being more aware of road accident hazards
you may also save the extra costs that having a road accident
can bring such as vehicle repair, car hire, and a raise in your
car insurance rates. More experienced drivers are also usually
more adept at getting from location to location more quickly
which can save stacks of journey time. There is also more money
to be saved since an advanced driver should have better handling
of their vehicle, optimising the chance to be more economical
with fuel.

So, advanced driving will help you onto the roads with more
confidence and skill as a young driver. You will also feel more
experienced on the roads and thus decrease your chances of
causing a road accident. Passing an advanced driving course can
save you time and money such as lowering your young driver car
insurance rates. Hopefully, embarking on an advanced driving
course will mean that you feel more prepared to brave the open
road.

While on a trip, or even close to home, we all want to keep driving for as long as possible. Yet nobody, in their right mind, wants to be a threat to ourselves (or others) because we’re too sleepy to operate our motor vehicle. Self-awareness of our sleepiness is always the key to driving safely!
In a report dated just last year 2004, the National Safety Council wrote that traffic death rates are 3 times greater at night – - than during the day!
This report also stated, “Driving at night is more of a challenge than most people think and it’s much more dangerous”.
So, you may ask, “What is it that makes night driving so dangerous”?
The NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCIL’S answer to that one is as follows, “DEALING WITH THE DARKNESS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK. 90% of a driver’s reaction depends upon vision and that is severely limited at night. Depth perception, color recognition plus peripheral vision are compromised after sundown” .
PLUS: Another huge factor, as stated by the NSC (which adds to even more danger when you’re night driving) is fatigue. Day or night drowsiness will always make one’s driving more difficult because it dulls concentration and it surely slows reaction time.
IN ORDER TO PROPERLY HANDLE THE ABOVE FACTORS
THE FOLLOWING IS RECOMMENDED
#1.	You must observe night driving safety as soon as the sun goes down. Twilight is one of the most difficult times to drive because your eyes are constantly changing to the growing darkness.
#2.	YES, it’s a “Time Consuming Headache” – - HOWEVER: You should prepare your car for night driving. Clean headlights, tail lights, signal lights and windows (inside and out) at least once a week and even more often if necessary. You must do this – - especially if you’re on a long trip!
#3.	Your headlights must be properly aimed. Headlights can blind other drivers and they also reduce your ability to see the road.
#4.	If you have any doubt at all you should turn your headlights on. Under normal circumstances lights will most likely not help you see in early twilight but they’ll always make it easier for other drivers to see you. Being seen as is important as seeing.
#5.	Reduce your speed and increase your following distances. It’s much more difficult to judge other vehicle’s speeds and distances at night.
#6.	When following another motor vehicle (be it a car, truck or whatever) you must keep your headlights on low beam so as not to blind the driver ahead of you.
#7.	If an oncoming vehicle doesn’t click from high to low, you can avoid the glare by watching the right edge of the road and using it as a steering guide.
#8.	Make frequent stops for light snacks and exercise. If you’re too tired to drive, stop and get some rest.
#9.	If you have car trouble, pull off the road as far as possible. If you have what are identified as “Reflecting Triangles” you should warn approaching traffic by setting them up near your vehicle and about 300 feet behind it.
PLUS: Whether you have reflecting triangles or not you should: A: Turn on your flashers plus your dome light. B: Get your body off the roadway. C: Remove both yourself and your passengers away from the area.
In 2004 NHTSA (The U.S. National Highway Traffic Association Administration) estimates that approximately 100,000 police-reported crashes involved drowsiness and fatigue as a principal casual factor. In their report they stated, “About one million crashes per year were thought to be produced by Drowsy Drivers”.
In a poll NHTSA ran in 1999, 62% of all adults surveyed reported driving a car (or some other vehicle the previous year = in 1998) while feeling “Drowsy”, 27% said that they had, at some time, dozed off while driving. 23% of them reported they knew individuals who had experience a fall-asleep crash.
This report also said, “People tend to fall asleep more on high-speed, long, boring, rural highways”. And that “The New York Police estimated that 30% of all fatal crashes, along the New York Thruway, occurred because the driver fell asleep”.

Author: John Mancini

Whether you are moving across the country or just across town,
it might be wise to consider a moving truck rental to get your
belongings from place to place. Renting a moving truck can prove
to be quit cost effective when compared to multiple trips back
and forth with a vehicle you already own.

1- Shop around and inquire about prices and specials as well as
other options that may be offered to you when you rent a moving
truck. Look for a company that has high standards for their
trucks as well as their towing equipment, this may be more
expensive, but worth it in the long run. Ask if the company
offers unlimited mileage, if not, find out how much extra miles
will cost you.

2- Today’s technology makes it easier than every to reserve a
moving truck. It is possible to do almost all of your research
and to make reservations either online or over the phone. While
this technology can make doing business easier, it is always a
wise decision to actually speak with the company that you want
to do business with face to face. This will help to avoid any
misunderstandings.

3- Before you agree to rent a truck, inspect it. The rental
company will have a standard form for you to fill out. While
doing the inspection, look for things such as dents, scratches
and rust. Be sure to check out the latches and locks on the
doors as well. By documenting the items wrong with the truck
before you rent it will mean that you won’t be charged for the
damage later.

4- While you are in the reservation and renting process, the
company will offer you optional insurance to cover the vehicle.
There will be a few options available to you when renting a
moving truck, these could include accident insurance, limited
loss and damage waivers and cargo insurance. It’s always a good
idea to speak with your auto insurance carrier to see if you
already have these overages. If you don’t, it could be a wise
idea to buy them from the rental company, especially if you are
traveling very long distances.

5- At the time of rental, you will need to show certain personal
documents. These will include a driver’s license, your personal
proof of insurance and a major credit card. These documents are
needed to prove that you are of legal age to rent the truck
(usually 25), that you have personal auto accident insurance
available, and that they can secure payment from you.

6- Depending upon the size of the moving truck rental, you need
and where you are traveling, you may need to stop at weigh
stations along the way. It’s best to ask the rental company if
they have any knowledge of the truck being big enough for this
requirement. Also, call the state police in all the states you
will be traveling through to get the specific requirements for
each state.

7- Lastly, before you drive off the rental lot with your moving
truck, you will need to get copies of all of the important
documents from the rental company. These could include the
rental agreement, a driver trip report, a truck inspection sheet
and any other paperwork that the rental company suggests. Check
to be sure that the proof of insurance and the registration are
also in the truck.

Author: Dan Baldyga
Source: articleage.com

Some time ago I wrote an article for the absolutely sensational ARTICLE CITY regarding the handling of your personal injury claim regarding how one should proceed to collect for their LOST WAGES.
Since then I’ve been asked so many questions about that subject matter I’ve decided to go into even greater depth regarding this highly complicated subject matter. So, here we go:
GENERALLY SPEAKING: If you’re claiming five weeks of lost wages, and your Medical Record shows you were discharged in three, you’re in deep “stuff”! You’re chances of collecting for those additional two weeks is probably minus-zip.
No matter who says what you must make sure that the Final Medical Report, is handed to you – - only you – - nobody else !
Why ? So you’ll have a chance to read it before you hand it to Adjuster Henry Hard-Nose employed by Rock Solid Insurance Corporation.
In the event that the report doesn’t have everything in it that it should (which I’ve expressed in detail below) you have every right to return it to Medical Doctor or Chiropractor who wrote it and ask that it be rewritten in clear language, detailing and explaining the pain, discomfort and suffering they observed you experienced.
It if isn’t executed correctly Rock Solid Insurance and Hard-Nose will absolutely swoon with joy because the value of your claim will have done a nose dive into the nearest sewer. Why? Because your Final Medical Report has been executed in a sloppy manner and they know, in their secret heart’s, that even though you went through a tremendous period of “Pain and Suffering” if it’s not adequately spelled out your claim suddenly has much less value !
Assuming your Final Medical Report has been written accurately that’s money in the bank! But, far too often they’re dashed off in haste by a “Busy-Busy” Attending Physician or Chiropractor. Don’t let that happen to you because, if it does, that hot, slick tongue you feel on you’re lips, and sliding into your throat, is the result of the kiss of death that’s being given to you moments before your seduction.
SICK LEAVE OR VACATION TIME:
If you had to take sick leave, or vacation time, during the time you missed from work, it’s absolutely part of your claim. Never forget you would have been entitled to use that sick leave and/or vacation time, – - later on down the road – - when you needed or wanted it.
NEVER FORGET: If you’re forced to take either (because of a motor vehicle accident) it’s the same as losing the pay itself. Don’t let Hard-Nose attempt to pull his usual “Con Job” and tell you any differently!
LOSS OF PAY VS. TRIPS TO YOUR ATTENDING PHYSICIAN:
If your Lost Wage Document, which was executed by the company you work for, states that you didn’t work during the same period you were being treated by your attending physician, that’s all the proof you need to be compensated for your “lost earnings”.
HOWEVER: If your doctor didn’t treat you any longer after a certain date (even though stated and detailed in your Lost Wage Document) than your chances of recovery for your lost wages, after that particular date, are minus zip!
BACK TO WORK BUT STILL TREATING:
If you’ve returned to work, but you’re still being treated by your attending physician, that Lost Wage Document should clearly state the date and hours you missed when you had to leave work and make that day trip to see your doctor and/or receive treatment.
BACK TO WORK HOWEVER NOT BACK AT YOUR USUAL, NORMAL, ROUTINE ASSIGNMENT:
During my almost 40 years in the business of insurance claims I often ran into a situation where the claimant insisted they were unable to return to their old job and this caused them to have a lesser income. However, there were many times when the only proof of this was their verbal contention and that was unacceptable .
That’s why it’s so important (should this apply to you and your work/income situation) that this is clearly spelled out , by the company where you’re employed, in their Lost Wage Report. An official notation on the bottom of the document, stating this to be true, can save you a lot of grief, and a earn you a ton of money!
LOSS OF OVERTIME PAY:
The overtime you lost is a legit claim. Get a letter from your employer spelling out the amount of money you lost in overtime. They can do this by taking a look at last years income, during the same period you were laid up, then figuring out the overtime income you lost, for that identical space in time. Once this has been determined THIS TOO should written into your Lost Wage Report.
ONE LAST WARNING
The inside claims people at Rock Solid Insurance Corporation and adjusters like Henry Hard-Nose are buried alive with hundreds (sometimes thousands!) of claimants who are going through a great deal of “Pain and Suffering”, and they just don’t have the time to properly consider the seriousness of what you’ve had to deal with, no matter how legitimate it may be.
You ask, “How can Dan be so sure about that” ? The answer is very simple, “Because I’ve been there and done that”.
HOWEVER: If you follow what I’ve laid out above, you’ll stay ahead of them, win the ball game and be awarded all the lost wage damage’s that are owed to you – - PLUS increase that additional payment for your “Pain and Suffering” !
