You might decide not to get travel insurance so that you may save some money. You think that travel insurance is as an unnecessary expense and that nothing will go wrong. Insurance of medical during travel protects you against any medical expense while travelling. Imagine these scenarios: You are in Darwin, Australia when a cyclone hits the area. The city is in a mess and all services are shut down. If the luggage is missing in India and you want to buy new clothes, this can be a problem when you are on a shoestring budget. With you traveller insurance you will be able to buy new clothes. If a person is injured badly and he needs surgery and then needs to be airlifted home. It is also fine. It is the duty of travel medical insurance to cover all that.
